Stop tagging experienced players as old – Richard Mpong

Former Asante Kotoko star Richard Mpong has called on Ghanaians particularly sports journalists to stop tagging experienced footballers as ‘lame duck’

Some Ghanaian football advocates and journalists describe players who are in their late 20’s as old and waste, and that cannot add value to the game anymore.

But in an interview with Koforidua-based Aben FM, the former Black Stars players argued that the so-called aged players make the league attractive.

“Ghanaians should stop calling experience players as old because it doesn’t help our game. I believe the return of experience players makes the league attractive”

“When you go to Nigeria, there are a lot of old players who ply their trade in their league and are making huge impact. It is about time we embrace experience players into our league” he said.
