Super Eagles attacker Akinkunmi Amoo reacts to Nigeria's failure to qualify

Akinkunmi Amoo has reacted to Nigeria’s inability to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria failed to qualify for Qatar 2022 following a 1-1 draw with Ghana’s Black Stars on Tuesday evening at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Amoo was not named to the matchday lineup for the first leg’s 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday.

He also did not play in the second leg in Abuja, when goals from Black Stars captain Thomas Partey and defender William Troost-Ekong sealed a draw and Ghana’s qualification for the World Cup by away goal.

“Tears and pains, it wasn’t the result we wanted. We apologize for not making it to Qatar. I’m honoured for the opportunity, my joy would have been accomplished with a World Cup ticket,” Amoo tweeted.
