Former Ghana Assistant coach, Ibrahim Tanko has debunked rumors he was undermining Head Coach Kwesi Appiah while he served as his assistant.

The former Borussia Dortmund man left his post as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars after the 2019 AFCON where Ghana was eliminated at the Quarter-Final stage.

Media reports were rife that Tanko was sabotaging Kwesi Appiah while both served together but according to Tanko these reports were false and were only perpetrated by individuals who had their own agenda.

“I heard a lot of things. In Ghana, [you know] we talk a lot, that Kwesi said I was undermining because I wanted his job. I never did that but I did not want to argue with him.” – Tanko revealed

“I can assure you that afterward coach Kwesi Appiah has found out the truth.”

“He knows that what he said was not the truth,” he told Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila in an interview.

Tanko is now the head coach of the Black Stars B team whom he’s preparing for the upcoming WAFU tournament.
