“The FA did not give me the respect I deserved”- Coach Bashir Hayford on GFA Technical Director snub
Legon Cities FC head Coach Bashir Hayford believes he was not treated with respect by the Ghana Football Association in their quest to appoint a Technical Director.
The erstwhile Ghana women’s trainer was among six candidates reportedly vying for the top job following the exit of Francis Oti Akenteng in March last year.
After several months of deliberation and interviews, the FA decided to give the mandate to German trainer Benhard Lippert, an experienced FIFA Coaching Instructor.
A decision that hasn’t gone down too well with the experienced Ghanaian coach who has expressed his disappointment with the country’s football governing body.
“I will not want to talk about Bernard Lipper” Hayford said in an interview with Accra-based HOT 93.7 FM.
“I applied for the job but the GFA didn’t consider me at all in the quest to appoint the technical director, I think the FA did not give me the respect I deserved and thats very unfortunate” He added.
“I am not worried Lippert was appointed since I have also worked in Somalia as their head coach before so qualms about that but respect is key, I was not respected by the GFA” He stated.
