'This is a dream coming true for us' - Hasaacas Ladies skipper Janet Egyir on reaching CAF WCL final

Hasaaacas Ladies skipper, Janet Egyir says her side’s dream is coming true after reaching the final of the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League on Monday.

The Ghanaian champions had become the first side to reach the final as they beat Morocco’s AS FAR 2-1 in the opening semi-final in Cairo.

Hasaacas took the lead after 35 minutes through Doris Boaduwaa but the Moroccans drew level on the stroke of half-time as Najat Badri beautifully volleyed home to convert an excellent cross from Fatima Tagnaout following fine work down the right.

Hasaacas scored their second in the 76th minute as Boaduwaa turned provider as her long cross was headed home by the stooping Evelyn Badu, as the 19-year-old claimed her fifth goal of the tournament.

“It feels great to win the woman of the match award. We feel great, this is a dream coming true for us,” Egyir said after the game as quoted by cafonline.com.

“When we missed the penalty, we thought something was wrong with us. But then we pushed through and won.

“We are looking forward to the final game, whoever they are, we are ready for them”

Hasaacas will face South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns in the final on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the 30 June Stadium.
