VIDEO: Watch Alfred Duncan’s goal for Fiorentina against Juventus in Serie A
Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan scored for Fiorentina in their 2-0 win over Juventus on Saturday in the Italian Serie A.
The 29-year-old put up an impressive to help his side return to European football for the first time in five years after qualifying for next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League.
Duncan has made 33 league appearances for Fiorentina this season, scored two and provided two assists in the process.
The Ghanaian opened the scoring for the hosts right on the cusp of half-time. A penalty shout was turned down by the referee in the 42nd minute, yet Duncan was first to a loose ball inside the penalty area and he blasted a shot into the top corner of the net.
Early in the second half, Fiorentina who were the more attacking side had another penalty appeal turned down, with referee Daniele Chiffi believing the Juventus defender had won the ball cleanly.
Krzysztof Piatek forced a fine save out of Carlo Pinsoglio with 12 minutes left to play, yet the officials did finally award the hosts a penalty in injury time of the second half.
Leonardo Bonucci was deemed to have tripped an attacking player and Nico Gonzalez fired his spot-kick low into the net, confirming a victory and a seventh-place finish for Fiorentina.
