We have to have the ‘best team’ possible going forward – Black Stars Technical Advisor Hughton
Black Stars Technical Advisor, Chris Hughton believes it’s important coach Otto Addo assembles the ‘best team’ possible ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Black Stars have been paired with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H at this year’s finals in Qatar in November and December.
Coach Otto Addo’s side will open their tournament at the global showpiece by taking on Portugal before playing South Korea and then wrap up their group campaign with a clash with Uruguay.
“There are players that are playing outside of Ghana in European countries, predominantly, that do qualify,” former Newcastle and Brighton boss told BBC Sport Africa.
“The world is changing and there is far more travel between various countries, and far more individuals being brought up in a different country to what they were born in, or their parents were born.
“That is something the FA will always have their finger on. We have to have the best team possible going forward. And if that means opening out the network, then is it is our responsibility to to do that.”
Ghana will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup after missing the previous competition held in Russia four years ago.
