World Cup 2022 qualifiers: Who’s still alive, who’s eliminated

Africa qualifying for the 2022 Soccer World Cup in Qatar will continue from Friday to Saturday this week with a number of countries still with high hopes of representing the continent.

For others, however, the final two rounds will be largely meaningless as they have already been eliminated.

So how does the qualifying actually work?

There are 10 groups of four countries with the winners of each heading through to the next round where they will randomly be drawn into five head-to-head, home and away matches.

The winners of those five matches will represent Africa next year in Qatar.

THREE groups have already been decided.
