World Cup play-off: FIFA approves Baba Yara Stadium for Ghana-Nigeria clash

The world’s football governing body (FIFA) has reportedly approved the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium for the much-anticipated World Cup play-off between Ghana and Nigeria this month., Footballghana.com has gathered.

FIFA rejected the Cape Coast Stadium as Ghana’s first choice venue after its inspection team visited the stadium this week.

However, according Ghanaian journalist, Saddick Adams, the Black Stars game against the Super Eagles will played in Kumasi after FIFA approval.

It is said FIFA has already booked hotels for its match assessors and monitors in Kumasi.

This comes as a huge relieve for the Ghana Football Association, National Sports Authority and Ministry of Youth of Sports.

The Black Stars will play the Super Eagles in a two-legged encounter with the winner of both legs securing qualification to the biggest soccer mundial in Qatar.

Ghana will play host to Nigeria on March 25, 2022 before the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 29, 2022.
