WPL Match Report: Berry Ladies 3-1 Thunder Queens
Berry Ladies continued their fine form in the Southern Zone of the Women’s Premier League with a 3-1 win over Thunder Queens at the Madina Astro Turf on Saturday.
It didn’t take too long for the League leaders to break the deadlock as they were dominant from the onset. Thelma Baffour scored in the 20th minute to ensure that Berry begun on a high note.
Thunder Queens had an opportunity to level things up in the 24th minute from a free kick but the effort could only find the side net.
That proved costly as Constance Agyemang doubled the lead for Berry Ladies in the 29th minute.
Berry Ladies could have had a third goal in the 33rd minute but Thelma Baffour’s effort went wide.
The first half ended 2-0 in favour of Berry Ladies.
After the break, Berry Ladies started from where they left off with Constance Agyemang scoring her second of the day and Berry’s third to make it 3-0.
At that point it looked like a mission impossible for Thunder Queens.
Berry Ladies coach Mercy Tagoe made a substitution by bringing on Hannah Buabeng for Rashida Ibrahim. Nasco player of the month for January Felicity Asante also come on for Faustina Worwornyo in the 63rd minute.
Berry Ladies made their final substitution in the 69th minute when Philomena Abeka came on for Monica Addai.
Thunder Queens player Leticia Adjei was shown a red card after a foul on Philomena Abeka.
Berry Ladies defended their lines well but Vivian Konadu pulled one back for Thunder Queens in the 85th minute to end the game 3-1.
This win keeps Berry Ladies at the top of the table with 15 points from five matches
Salma Jaibril of Thunder Queens was adjudged the Nasco Player of the match.
