WPL: Soccer Intellectuals stun Police Ladies in Accra
Soccer Intellectuals on Sunday, stunned Police ladies 1-0 at the McDan park in a Women’s Premier League match day 3 encounter.
Moussirietou Adina Akpo scored the only goal of the match in the 11th minute to hand the Ajumako based side victory over their arch rivals.
Police Ladies mounted pressure on the visitors in search of the equalizer but could not find the back of the net, thanks to the brilliance of the Intellectuals backline. Police ladies missed the chance of levelling things up as Elizabeth Dokyi missed a penalty in the 27th minute.
Soccer Intellectuals defenders, Linda Amoako and Linda Addai displayed an exception display on the day to keep Police Ladies at bay, stopping them from picking a point in their own backyard.
The second half saw the visitors descending heavily on the home side in search of a second goal but their effort was curtailed by the home side.
The win is the second for Soccer Intellectuals in the League. Soccer Intellectuals offensive midfielder, Mary Essiful was voted the NASCO player of the match.
