Ghana receives first batch of COVID-19 Vaccines

Vida Essel-LampteyGhana has received the first batch of the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister of Health designate, Kwaku Agyemang Manu on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 led a delegation to receive the first consignment at the Kotoka international Airport in Accra.
The delivery makes Ghana the first West African Country to take delivery of the vaccines through the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility (COVAX) which has some 92 countries signed to.
The consignment 600, 000 pieces of the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V is expected to be roll out in March to cover about 20 per cent of the population expected to be vaccinated.
