Refund our 2020 election filing fees – NDC tells EC

Vida Essel-LampteyThe National Democratic Congress has written to the Electoral Commission(EC) to refund to them monies pay as filing fee during the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
A statement from the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party sighted by GhanaPlus.com said Regulation 46(1) of the C.I.127 provides clear conditions to which such monies could be refund which the party met all in the 2020 elections.
It was therefore, by the letter formally requesting the EC to refund their deposits as stipulated.
“FEC also wishes to inform you that it is formally requesting refund of deposits it made in respect of it Presidential and Parliamentary candidates”.
“Regulation 46(1) of C.I. 127 spell out the conditions for refund or forfeiture of deposit made by Presidential or Parliamentary Candidates. A Presidential or Parliamentary Candidate must obtain a minimum of 25% and 12.5% respectively in a General Election to qualify for a refund”.
The party was requesting for refund for deposits made on behalf of its Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, together with that of Parliamentary Candidate from Two Hundred and Sixty Nine (269) constituencies out of the Two Hundred and Seventy Five (275) across the 16 Regions of the country.
The letter was signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johson Aseidu Nketia on February 9 and was received by the EC on February 11, 2021.
