Great Olympics midfielder Gladson Awako has expressed much appreciation to Ghana Coach Charles Akonnor for handing him his senior national team debut.
Awako made his first appearance for the Black Stars last Sunday in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome.
The former TP Mazembe midfielder came on just before the start of the second half when he replaced Osman Bukari. The moment has been described by Awako as a dream come true. The player took to his Facebook page after the game to share his feelings for chalking this feat.
He posted…
Awako has been one of the standout performers in this season’s Ghana Premier League. His experience and overall quality has pushed his side, Great Olympics into the Top 4.
He was part of the National U-20 side that conquered Africa and the World in 2009 in Egypt
But until then, he had found national team opportunities limited despite having impressive spells with Berekum Chelsea and TP Mazembe.
