Vida Essel-LampteyA member of ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s legal team, Lawyer Sammy Darko has said Ghanaian actress, Rosemary Brown is likely to face a maximum prison sentence of three years.
According to him, the charges leveled against the actress falls under a misdemeanor which attract a prison sentence of a day – three (3) years, maximum, a fine or even a caution.
He note the demand from the Judge to have the actress conduct a pregnancy test before her sentence could only mean that she would be facing a prison sentence adding such test wouldn’t be necessary in fine or a caution.
Lawyer Darko was speaking on Ade Akye Abia on Okay FM on Thursday, April 15 monitored by GhanaPlus.com
Akuapem Poloo likely to go jail
“If a judge asked for you to be remanded to be sentence later it means only one thing, it means it is possible the judge want to sentence you to imprisonment that is why she was asked to be remanded and conduct a pregnancy test because If you listen to what they are saying she was to be remanded to undergo a test to ascertain if she is pregnant”.
“You know in our laws, a pregnant woman is not to be imprison just like that so if she says you should be remand and appear later for your sentence what I understand is that the judge had made up the mind to sentence her to imprisonment,” he said.
He explained the judge could have passed her sentence the very day the actress pleaded guilty if the sentence was either a fine or caution.
“If the judge start thinking about you taking a pregnancy test then it was possible the she would be facing imprisonment”, he added.
