Young mother defies odds, writes Mechanical Technician aptitude test with breastfeeding baby

Vida Essel-LampteyA young mother with a breastfeeding baby has defy all odds to sit for an aptitude test held at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Hall in Tamale in the Northern Region to be selected and train as a Mechanical Technician.

The young and determined mother whose identity is yet to established by GhanaPlus.com was spotted in a picture circulating on social media breastfeeding the child while writing the exams participated by hundreds of other applicants.
In another picture the child was being carried by a man believed to be one of the invigilators of the exams.
The pictures were shared by the Founder of the Dankwa Institute, Mr Gabby Otchere Darko and the Minister of Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful in a twitter post.
The exams
The exams was part of a process to select a total of One Hundred (100) youths across the country with a degree or HND in Engineering to be trained as Mechanical Engineers to help reduce the expatriate technicians in the country’s offshore oil and gas industry.
Under the government of Ghana’s Accelerated Oil and Gas Capacity Building initiative and sponsored by the Petroleum Commission, selected applicants would be trained to work on offshore oil and gas installations such as FPSOs and drill ships.
They would be train for six (6) month in residence leading to the UK City and Guilds Qualification at a cost is US$ 7,500 per trainee.
