Agonaman Youth Awards unveiled

Vida Essel-LampteyA youth-focused award for young people between the ages of 18-45, contributing their quota to the development of Agona Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana and its environs has been unveiled.
The awards dubbed “Agonaman Youth Awards” seeks to honour distinguish young men, women, and organizations for their outstanding contributions towards societal development in the area.
The event which would be held annually would honour some 25 individuals and organizations in the areas of health, research, innovation, culture, promotion of human rights, art and literature, entrepreneurship, active citizenship, community service, sports, and academic excellence.
Agonaman Youth Awards
The awards would focus specifically, on excellence within the communities of the Agona East and West districts in the Central Region which includes Swedru, Nsaba, Kwanyako, Duakwa, Asafo, Mankrong, Mankrong Nkwanta, Kotokori Zongo, Ofoase, Nyakrom, Bobikum.
Other communities are Abodom , Kwaman, Nkum, Wawase, Otsenkorang, Adukori, Oteprow, Ahomadonko, Odomu, Dadzie, Nkwantanando, Kukurantumi , Bosompa, Jukwafum, Amponsahkrom Nkranfo Nsonan among others.
Afrikaba Media CEO Speaks about the award
Speaking to GhanaPlus.com, the Chief Executive Officer of Afrikaba Media, organizers of the awards, Ronnie Ato Paintsil said the event was established to motivate young persons who were exceptionally empowering young generations within Agonaman communities in their own right.
“It is to encourage young people to develop a sense of responsibility to the community; thus to achieve excellence in the field of societal development or social service,” he said.
Criteria for selection
To qualify, a nominee must be between the ages of 18-45 and must be a citizen or an inhabitant of Agona.
He/she/organization must be actively involved in an identifiable extra-ordinary social and development work for more than 6 months, either in a professional or voluntary capacity within Agonaman.
Eligible persons can nominate themselves or be nominated by others through both digital and manual platforms to be announced soon.
