The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Art and Culture, Mr Mark Okraku Mantey has urged players in the entertainment industry to bury their differences and forge ahead for the betterment of the industry.
Speaking on Entertainment Review on Peace FM monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Saturday, August 27, he said he and the ministry were committed to bring change in the industry but would need all players on board to make it happen adding that for the sake of the bigger vision, they would have to bury their egos and pride.
He noted practitioners in the industry were generally emotional and that explains the hullabaloo that had characterized virtually every little development in the industry.
Mr Okraku Mantey said to succeed in the creative art business like any other business, it was advisable not to rely on emotions since that could be deceptive and misleading and urged them to adhere to same going forward.
“And like you all know me ,I am committed, just like President is committed, Dr Awal is committed. The change for this industry must come and we need everybody on board. GAMRO, MUSICA all these things…Sometimes the one who said let it go was not a fool. The one who said is nothing, let move on, it doesn’t mean he is a fool, but sometimes for the sake of a bigger thing ahead, we all have to bury our ego and our pride and look at the bigger vision”.
“I see that for creative people we are emotional and so every small thing, we use emotions but when we are doing business, we don’t use emotions, we use the head instead. The emotions can mislead us, the heart is very deceptive that is why many fall in love and there are issues,” he added.
I am committed to bring change to the entertainment industry
The Deputy Minister said government, himself and the sector minister were all committed to the development of the sector and called for their support to make it better now and for generations yet to come.
“Like you all know me, I am committed, just like President is committed, Dr Awal is committed. The change for this industry must come and we need everybody on board. GAMRO, MUSICA all these things,” he said.
