Let’s bring back coach Kwesi Appiah to coach the Black Stars – Joe Hendricks
A former Asante Kotoko captain, Joe Hendricks has suggested that should coach CK Akonnor be sacked, veteran tactician Kwesi Appiah should be appointed as his replacement.
After Ghana’s narrow defeat to South Africa in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last week, there is pressure on the Ghana FA from Ghanaians to have coach CK Akonnor sacked.
According to a section of Ghanaians on social media, the coach is incapable of leading the Black Stars to AFCON glory and could even fail to qualify the team to the World Cup.
Sharing his thoughts on the matter, Joe Hendricks says if CK Akonnor is sacked, ex-Ghana coach CK Akonnor should be given the job back.
“I would suggest we bring back Kwesi Appiah if we want a Local Coach because he already has the experience ahead of any other who would come n learn on the job but Kwesi Appiah has already learned from his mistakes,” the ex-Ghana defender told Spice FM in an interview.
He added, “Local Coaches have problems working for the Black Stars because of the mentality that they have achieved and are successful than the Local Managers looking at their bank accounts.”
CK Akonnor’s fate will be decided at an emergency committee meeting of the GFA Executive Council on Monday.
