Ejura Committee of Inquiry report shallow – Richard Kumadoe

A Fraud and Security Analyst, Mr Richard Kumadoe has described as shallow the report presented by the Ejura Commitee of Inquiry on the impasse which saw two death and four others injured at Ejura on June 29.

That he said was because the report did not address the very reasons for which the committee was established.

Mr Kumadoe made the remarks on TheKeyPoint on TV3 monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Saturday, October 2.

He was of the opinion, the committee conveniently avoided its key role to divert public opinion from the development which claim the life of the social activist, Kaaka Ibrahim and subsequent lost of lives and injuries recorded in a protest to demand justice for his death.

“Definitely, they have come up with some recommendation but to summarize what has been done and looking at it with a security eye, I could say that is a bit shallow , it did not address the key issues as to why the committee was set up, especially, if you are looking forward to avert many of the issues that led to the death of Kaaka .You can’t hear the argument that is being made left right. Dr Annin calls it convenient and he call it class failure and if you take the recommendations one by one, you realize that the committee find it convenient to switch from the cause of death and the manner of death of Kaaka so they could sway the public opinion to whatever had been done,” he said.

Ejura Committee report

Governments of Ghana on on Monday, September 28 published the report of the three-member ministerial committee set up to probe the disturbances in Ejura in the Ashanti Region following the murder of social activist Kaaka Anyass Ibrahim.

The 55 page report published on Monday, September 28 and sighted by GhanaPlus.com has among it’s details summary of the evidence of the 22 witness which appear before it from, 9th of July 2021 through to July 16, findings, recommendations and conclusions.

Ejura protest turn bloody

It could be recalled a protest by resident of Ejura to seek justice for the murdered social activist and #FixTheCountry Campaigner Kaaka Anyass Ibrahim, on June 29 turned bloody when the military opened fire on the protestors.

Two persons were confirmed dead while four others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Subsequently, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo tasked the Minister of Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery to put together a committee to probe the disturbances and present the report in 10-days.

The Ejura Committee of Inquiry

The three member committee was chaired by Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice George Kingsley Koomson and has Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, a Security Expert, and Ms Juliet Amoah, the Executive Director of Penplusbytes, a not-for-profit organisation into good governance and the promotion of new media with a Principal State Attorney, Ms Marie-Louise Simmons, is the Secretary.

The committee was among other things tasked by the Interior Minister on Thursday, July 1 to look into the circumstances that led to the disturbances, which claimed two lives and left four injured.

The committee in the report blamed the murder of the social activist on probably family feud and made 10 point recommendations for implementation.
