SAFA boss Danny Jordaan hit out at FIFA over delay on protest case against Ghana
The President of the South Africa Football Association (SAFA), Danny Jordaan has hit out at world football governing body FIFA over the delay in releasing a decision on its protest case against Ghana.
SAFA earlier this month filed a protest at FIFA seeking that the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Black Stars and the Bafana Bafana be replayed.
This was after South Africa had lost 1-0 to Ghana in the final Group G game of the African qualifiers to next year’s global tournament.
Speaking Local Sunday times, Danny Jordaan says he is unhappy FIFA is delaying the verdict on the protest case.
“FIFA issued a statement saying they would give us a decision on November 23. What is the date today? It is November 28, isn’t it? The question is why have they [FIFA] not even communicated with us? Why?
“They must explain to the people around the world that the matter is a lot more complicated than they originally thought and they need more time to consider their decision. Remaining silent for so many days without any form of communication is not the way to go,” Danny Jordaan said.
Amid the delay in the release of the decision on the verdict, reports from unconfirmed sources indicate that the protest has been thrown out by FIFA.
