I’m happy for them – Eddie Nketiah on Black Stars World Cup qualification

England youth international Eddie Nketiah has expressed his delight about the Black Stars World Cup qualification.

Ghana sealed qualification over Nigeria in the play-off and has been paired against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H ahead of the tournament.

Ghana is returning to the mundial after overcoming Nigeria in the play-off to book a ticket for Qatar this November.

The 22-year-old has sparked hopes of playing for the Ghana national team speaking to the Beautiful Game podcast could not hide his affections on Ghana’s World Cup qualification.

‘Of course, it is a possibility. I’m open to both, playing for Ghana and playing for England as well,” he told the Beautiful Game podcast.

“It’s always good to have the opportunity to potentially do that,” the youngster added.

“Being from Ghana, obviously they’ve qualified for the World Cup and knowing a player like Thomas (Partey), I am happy for them,”

The London-born forward has played for both the England U17 and U21 sides, scoring 16 international goals for the latter but he is yet to feature for the senior team.

With Ghana qualifying for the World Cup, the enterprising forward has left the door open to play for the Black Stars.

Ghana are making their 4th appearance at the World Cup after participating in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions.

They will open their account against Portugal on November 24 before taking on South Korea in the second group game on November 28 and Uruguay in the last round four days later.
