13-year-old boy drowns in Eshiem

A 13-year-old boy has drowned in the Anakorano River in Eshiem, in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.

The victim, Francis Arthur, was confirmed to have died after going on a swimming expedition with friends.

Speaking to the assemblyman of the area, Francis and his friends came from Anoe, a nearby community to swim but on that very day, it rained heavily.

As it continued to rain, the river overflowed its banks, also, Francis and his friends were swimming at a farther place which was dangerous and were also far away from the crowd.

After his friends realised that Francis has since not emerged after a dive, they rushed home to report to the elders of their community. They mobilised themselves to the river and performed rights after which the body emerged.
