7 galamsey operators arrested on River Bonsa

Seven illegal miners have been arrested on the Bonsa River, on Wednesday, August 31.

Six (6) changfan and wooden floating vessels were also decommissioned barely two weeks after a similar operation at the same location.

A team of security personnel were recruited to patrol the river and surprisingly, those recalcitrant galamsayers have returned to full operation in virtually the same Bonsa area.

According to Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive they have prayed the police to prosecute these heartless galamsayers to serve as a deterrent to others.

Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Security Council is also determined to regularly pursue these recalcitrants and bring them to book. He added.

The galamsey operators are therefore warned to leave the Bonsa River and other river bodies before the law catches up on them.

“We will not relent until we save our water bodies from total destruction”. Hon. Kessie said.
