High Court rules in favour of Rastafarian students
Master Marhguy made the comment in twitter post hours after the High Court ruled that he and Master Oheneba Nkrabea, both Rastafarian be admitted into the Achimota school which they were placed in by the computerized placement system.
The two had passed the West Africa Examination Council(WAEC)’s Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) with flying colours but were denied access to the school following their failure to cut their dread locks hair in accordance with the school’s regulation.
They indicated their hair was borne out of their religious belief, the reason they would not be able to comply with the schools directive and supposed long standing tradition aimed at ensuring uniformity among students.
