Both political parties ignore Western Region when in power – Gyaasehene of Apinto – Skyy Power FM

The Gyaasehene of Apinto Traditional Area, Nana Dr Adarkwa Bediako III has bemoaned the lack of tangible benefits for mining communities in the Western Region after decades of mining.
Speaking on Skyy Power 93.5FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show on Friday, February 10, Nana Dr Adarkwa Bediako the III said half of the country’s natural resources come from the Western yet there are no significant developmental projects ongoing in the region and mining communities.
He said the situation should be addressed properly and should not be politicised as every political party that comes to power ignores the region in terms of development.
He said, “It is a hard time that people have to be bold enough to speak about this, I walk through the whole of Ghana and I see development projects ongoing in various parts and when you compare it to the ones in our area, it is abysmal.”
“We should politicise the situation, the blame must be allocated to both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because they both ignore the Western Region upon all our contribution to the national cake.”
Nana Dr Adarkwa Bediako the III said it seems the region does not have the men who have the power to bring the needed development to the region because he is yet to see or hear them speak for the region.
“They keep giving people of the Western Region empty promises and this will happen next year during an election year and they will do nothing again.”
He, therefore, called on all leaders of the Western Region, particularly chiefs and politicians to be united and have a common goal by calling for developments for the region.
