The people of Kanuldoo has called on the Member of Parliament for Yendi Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama to as a matter of urgency fulfill the promise he made to them ahead of the 2020 General elections. According to them, the member of parliament promised to connect them to the National grid 3 days after winning the 2020 Parliamentary elections. However 4 years after elections, the MP is yet to fulfill the promise.
Kanuldo is a farming community located in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern region and 10 kilometers away from Kulkpeni.
The community are dominated by small scale farmers.
In the Year 2016, the NDC led administration came and fixed a transformer with electric poles and other materials for the project but was abandoned after losing the 2016 elections.
Prior to the 2020 general elections, the then Npp Parliamentary candidate Farouk Aliu Mahama on his campaign tour to the community called on the community leaders to make sacrifice to their ancestors to give him victory of which they did. This according to the community members have motivated them to give NPP an overwhelming support since he involved their ancestors who they believe.
The MP never come to thank us after winning the elections. They added.
In an interview with the community leader Pagagma Nijirme called on Mr Farouk to fulfill his promise and pay back to their ancestors since they can’t afford be strike by the promise of the gods.
Speaking to the community youth leader Bimoar Frances, the entire youth of the community will resist any move to compelled them to participate in the ongoing EC limited registration.
He further called on the MP to fulfill his outstanding promises in the community or never attempt to come to their community for campaign.
According to Madam Pigir Bingrini . She revealed that prior to the 2020 general elections Hon. Farouk promise supporting Kanuldo women with loans for their small scale businesses however they are yet to receive the support 4 years after winning elections .
