Concerned NPP members of Shama constituency vandalise party office as they call for annulment of elections
Some concerned NPP members of the Shama Constituency are requesting that the current polling station elections committee be dissolved and elections annulled.
In a press conference on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Shama party office, the aggrieved members expressed that the polling station election was illegally conducted and requested that for the sake of peace to “break the eight (8)” in the 2024 general elections, there should be a re-run of the overall elections in the constituency.

According to Benjamin Sarfo, the polling station chairman for Dunkwa Electoral Area said that 55.4% out of a total of one thousand four hundred (1400) aspirants who came for forms were disenfranchised without letting them know the reason until the Chairman of the Party, Mr Francis Ndede Siah upon an interview with a radio station in Takoradi said that those 55.4%, who were disqualified preached ‘skirt and blouse’ during 2020 general elections.
Mr Sarfo further stated that there was no clear information on vetting and election dates. According to him, they were kept in the dark in terms of information. He further stated that because of the ulterior motive by the sitting MP and party chairman, elections in Dwomo electoral area was conducted around 5:30 am by the electoral area chairman Kwame Tawiah and his cronies.
He said, “Can an aspiring polling station executive go round waking people up at the said time to come and vote for him or her.”
The chairman further noted that they will not accept the cheap excuse that a person who purchased a form duly submitted of which records were taken that such forms are missing and for that matter, they cannot contest for the polling station election as it is an embarrassment on the part of those who perpetuated this ‘evil’ agenda.
He however alleged that the recent illegal polling station election in the Shama Constituency was because those whose forms were taken away were people they perceived to be aligned with Allan Kojo Kyeremanteng and not in support of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by the elections committee.
Moreover, during the 2018 polling elections, the constituency had eighty-eight (88) polling stations and even with that, the elections committee prepared an itinerary to cover 5 days, but now they that they have about 125 polling stations, they used only 2 days to do the voting and no voter identity cards were used as well.
The concerned members also accused the current MP, Lawyer Abakah of using ‘macho’ men to influence the elections which a candidate who spoke to Skyy News said, he was assaulted by these men and landed in the hospital for some days which the police have said they cannot do anything about the incident.

They have revealed that they will switch to the opposition party, (NDC) if these issues are not resolved.
