Daniel McKorley is EMY Africa ‘Man of the Year’ 2021

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel McKorley is EMY Africa Award ‘Man of the Year’ 2021.
The renowned Ghanaian businessman was crowned with the prestigious award at the 6th edition of the award scheme at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on Saturday, October 24.
The award was to honour him for being very impactful in society, an innovator, a visible team player, a certifiable gentleman and pillar of the community.
A citation in his honour reads;
“Man of the year, Dr Daniel Mckorley, for your instrumental work in the shipping and freight industry you have contributed to society and Ghana’s economy in more ways than one through providing employment opportunities as well as a helping hand to the needy. You have also shown an interest in building up the next generation of entrepreneurs through your McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge, we say Ayeko. Congratulations”.
For his award, he took home the exotic Scottish whisky Johnnie Walker blue label, a citation in his honour and a plaque.
Ofori Sarpong praises McDan
Presenting the award at the event monitored by GhanaPlus.com, the Chief Executive Officer of Special Ice Limited, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a former recipient of the award described Dr McKorley as a business magnet.
“Mr McKorley, am just going to described him with one word……Mr McKorley congratulations, you deserve more than this award, May God bless you. May God continue to help you to employ more and more Ghanaians, ” he said.
Receiving the award, Dr McKorley said he was grateful for the honour done him and expressed his weighty appreciation to EMY for the recognition.
According to him, winning an award makes you a role model and he believes with God’s help he would be a better role model for the next generation of Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
“There are two values I hold very high, my believe in God and family. I really love family and I always thank God for pushing me. Receiving award for me is a pressure. Any award you receive you are a role model to that award and being a role model to next generation in this country, I believe God will guide me and I will be a better role model and as the McDan brand is becoming a household brand, i believe that it would be an encouragement to other entrepreneurs,” he said .

Daniel McKorley, arguably one of the most successful business names in Ghana, established the McDan Shipping Company, a shipping and logistics company in 1999 and has since become a household name.
Headquartered in Accra with branches in Tema and Trakoradi, the shipping company has a presence in over 2000 major air and sea ports worldwide.
With over 2decade experience in entrepreneurship, McDan currently runs the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge, a mentorship pragramme for young and emerging entrepreneurs in Ghana.
He is also a known philanthropic and has support many in diverse ways.
McDan owns several businesses and have won several awards in the country and beyond.
