Fire Service can't be blamed for disqualification



The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Western Region, Divisional Officer Grade Three (DO iii) Mr Emmanuel Bonney, says there is a required height for applicants before they can be recruited. into the Service.

Following the recent outrage in relation to applicants who were disqualified during recruitment base on their height, stretch marks, tattoos and piercing, Mr Bonney explained that applicants were well informed about the height requirement needed before getting into the Fire Service.

He indicated that it was boldly stated on the forms they had to fill before the physical examination on the required height but some disregarded the notice.

Mr Bonney revealed that the minimum height for males is supposed to be 5feet 8inches while their female counterparts are to be 5feet 4inches.

He went further to state that, it is a fact some people who are recruited into the service are below the minimum height, which he explained that these individuals were recruited under special circumstances because of their rare skills and intellect that will contribute tremendously to the growth of the service.
