Former Prez Mahama says State must compensate Appiatse victims
The former president of Ghana Mr John Dramani Mahama has called on President Akufo Addo and the state to compensate for the victims of the Appiatse Explosion.
Mr Mahama said that the task and quest for compensation should be the responsibility of the State and not the victims.

Mr Mahama on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, visited the victims, for the first time since the incident, to commiserate with them.
During his visit, some of the victims lamented to him the difficulties they are going through in their quest to seek compensation.
Responding to the victim’s plea he indicated it will rather be ideal for the State to seek compensation for the victims.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea Huni Valley Dr Isaac Dsamani revealed that six victims are still in the hospital and are battling for their lives.

Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley Wisdom Cudjoe appealed for more support for the Appiatse Relief Committee by the Municipality to help deal with immediate needs.
The former president John Dramani Mahama then donate 500 bags of Rice, 100 boxes of tin tomatoes, 100 boxes of can fish, 100 mattresses and also added 5,000 Ghana cedis to the Relief Committee
