Ghanaians from all walks of life have joined in the campaign by citizens of Nigeria for an end to police brutality in the West Africa Country.
The campaign dubbed ‘End Special Anti-Robbery Squad’ #END SAR is an initiative by Nigerian citizens to push for an end to the brutality by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a branch of the Nigeria Police Force which they say had been going on for years.
The peaceful campaign is turning bloody and Ghanaians have taken to their social media space to share their solidarity with their sister country.
With disturbing images of the shooting of protesters on Tuesday, October 20, floating on the various social media platform across the country, many more Ghanaians including celebrities such as Nana Aba Anamoah, Ama K Abebrese, Gloria Safo, Nadia Buari, Kwesi Arthur, Naa Ashorkor and many others has called for calm and prayers for West Africa’s largest business market.
Sharing images of Nigerian Flag soil with blood and others, the Ghanaian social media was flooded with “Let Pray for Nigeria” request, #ENDSARS, Nigerian’s Lives Matter” and why African leaders are mute about the development.
This is what Ghanaians had to say
Ama K Abebrese said “Nigerians deserve better. They have a right to peaceful protests without being killed. This is so uncalled for. #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeraNOW”
