The petitioner in the ongoing 2020 Presidential Election Petition hearing, John Dramani Mahama has asked the Supreme Court to re- schedule today’s hearing from 9:30am to 11:30am.
That was to enable lead counsel, Tsatui Tsikata prepare adequately for today’s proceedings.
This, the petitioner said will allow his lead counsel, to factor in his arguments affidavits in opposition that were filed by the respondents opposing his application for a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on February 11.
According to the petitioner, the court registrar called him “close to midnight” Wednesday to notify him about the filing of the affidavits in opposition and that he forwarded same to his lead counsel when soft copies where mailed to him.
The Supreme Court was expected to hear three main issues today; the petitioner’s applications for stay of proceedings and the hearing of the closing submissions of all the parties.
1st Respondent Electoral Commission and 2nd Respondent Akufo-Addo have already filed their closing submissions but the petitioner is yet to file his.
If the petitioner’s request is granted, today’s hearing will commence at 11:30am.
