TV3’s broadcaster journalist, Mr Johnnie Beresford Hughes has taken on Databank for its failure to honour it obligations to its clients.
Speaking on JohnniesBite on TV3 NewDay on Friday, December 23 monitored by GhanaPlus.com he said it is unfair for the investors to suffer for something they knew nothing about and asked the firm to pay them their monies.
“I have invested my money, I want my money back you are telling me Kwaku Ananse story and you say you can understand me,” he lamented.
Mr Hughes is of the view, the firm has money accrued from fronting government bonds and borrowing and must use it to pay the frustrated customers.
“Am not indicting you, am using your own worlds against you. Are we getting MensGold chapter two? Where is all the money that you made from bonds and borrowing and everything else because when the conversation started that Mr Ken Ofori-Atta’s Databank is benefiting from everything we borrowed, the argument from government communicators and government circles and apologist of the government in power is that they have done nothing illegal.
” If they had done nothing illegal, it means the money is there pay the people their money,” he reiterated.
How do you expect the people to survive – Johnnie Hughes asks Databank
Mr Hughes questioned how the firm expects its clients to survive under these excruciating financial difficulties while their funds are locked up.
“How do you expect them to spend Christmas? How do you want them to do that? How do you want them to pay their children’s school fees? How do you want them to pay rent, water bill, electricity bill. How do you want them to survive, those who want to travel, how do you want them to do that. You are keeping their monies”.
“They have money with you, take whatever you want and give them their money. Stop this kokoasa and hiding behind our staffs are being threatened and all that. Give the people their money. “Where is the money? Where are the monies? The people’s money? Where is it.? Where is all the money you made from borrowing where is it? Give the people their money? That all they are asking you. Give the people their money, give them, Stop these excuses,” Mr Hughes said.
Databank unable to pay back investment
Databank come under severe criticism from it clients for it inability to pay them back their investment.
Several of its clients have lamented the firm’s inability to pay them their investment which is due is gradually having a toll on their lives.
The development begun months ago with tons of them loosing significant amount of their investment due to government economic restructuring, one of the measures in its current negotiations with the International Monetary Fund over the country’s ailing economy.
