Honouring wedding makers: Irene Nartey’s African Wedding Makers Awards(AWEMA) to set the pace on May 15

On May 15, this year, the African Wedding Makers Awards (AWEMA),an award scheme to recognized and reward players in the wedding industry in Ghana and beyond will set the pace in honouring wedding makers in the country.
The award, first of its kind and under the auspices of Reenart Multimedia, a multimedia firm would honour the various professionals whose contribution together make the African wedding a memorable and exciting one.
This year’s edition is themed “ Wedding in the New Africa”.
African Wedding Makers Award
The award would honour some thirty professionals in the wedding industry all across the country including planners, photo and videographers, destinations, hair and makeup stylists, accessories, Disk Jockeys (DJs), caterers, MC, floral’s etc at an event scheduled to take place in Accra.
Some award to be taken home on the night of the event would be “Wedding Photographer of the Year”, Wedding Videographer of the Year”, ” Wedding planner of the Year”, “Best Destination Planner”, Best Regional Planner”, Bridal hair Stylist of the Year”, “MC of the Year”, “DJ of the Year”, “Best Catering Services of the Year,” etc.

Organizers, Reenart Multimedia speaks on AWEMA
Speaking to GhanaPlus.com, the Chief Executive Officer of Reenart Multimedia, Ms Irene Nartey said the award was to show gratitude to wedding makers whose efforts bring African weddings to life in all its uniqueness.
“The awards aim to recognize and reward those within the wedding industry that work towards making your special day perfect”.
“AWEMA is designed to recognise the efforts of the caterer that provides the delicious reception meal for your wedding, the DJ or band that adds the extra thrill to the atmosphere and the hair & makeup artist that made you look and feel on top of the world on your special day, and many others” she said.
She noted it was the society’s way of appreciating the professionals for always executing the dutiful task effortlessly against the odds.
“The Official Wedding Makers Awards allows us to come together and show our gratitude to those in the Wedding Industry,” she added.
Criteria for selection
Finalist of this year’s award were selected through opened nomination in January by the public and some industry players themselves via email and AWEMA social media platforms.
Entries were subjected to scrutiny by resource persons, otherwise known as the Academy/Board to select the finest and later subjected to a 100 percent(100%) public voting.
Winners of the maiden AWEMA awards would take home a plaque, a certificate with extra goodies in some categories.
