Masahudu Kunateh is IFEJ-Flamingo Financial and Business Journalist of the Year 2021

The Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) has adjudged Africa Eye Report’s Masahudu A. Kunateh, the ultimate winner of the 2021 IFEJ-Flamingo Financial and Business Journalism Awards.
The win brings to two the number of times he has been adjudged the ultimate winner of the distinguish award instituted to reward financial journalists and editors for their coverage in the area of business and finance.
Mr Kunateh, Editor in Chief of the Africa Eye Report, an online news portal was first adjudged the ultimate winner in 2019.
In 2020, however, the programme was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the 7th edition ceremony of the award scheme held in Accra on Friday, February 25, the journalist was also awarded Best in Natural Resources and Best in Health.
For his prize, Mr Kunateh took home citations, plaques and Macbook.
He will also embark on an all expenses paid trip to the World Bank -IMF spring meeting in April this year.
Other winners
Business and Financial Times Journalist, Edward Adjei Frimpong was also adjudge winner in three categories namely Best in Local Category, Best in Agri Business and Best in Tourism while Graphic Business and Ghanaian Times, Maclean Kwofie and Kingsley Asare won Best in Business Manufacturing and Best in Finance, respectively.

Speaking to the GhanaPlus.com, Mr Kunateh said he is humbled by the award and attributed the win to hard work.
“I feel happy and humbled. It shows that hard work pays,” he said.
He urged his colleague in the journalism fraternity to place more importance on research while executing their duties of informing, educating and entertaining the public.
“I will use this opportunity to appeal to my colleagues to always research when writing their articles,” Mr Kunateh advised.
IFEJ-Flamingo Awards
The IFEJ-Flamingo Awards was established in 2014 by the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists(IFEJ), a financial and business journalism skills development organization to recognized and reward journalists and editors reporting in the area of business and finance.
The annual awards is sponsored by World Bank.
