Media General’s Captain Smart granted bail

Popular television presenter and Host of Media General’s Onua TV morning current affairs programme, Onua Maakye, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, Captain Smart has been granted bail.
The popular media personality was arrested and detained by the National Security and the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, December 2 over some unsavory comment he supposedly made on his programme.
A statement from Management of Media General sighted by GhanaPlus.com said Captain Smart was picked up from his home early Thursday morning to the offices of the National Investigations Bureau and the Ghana Police service respectively for interrogations.
He was subsequently cautioned and his statement taken and granted bail.
“Captain Smart was picked up in his house on Thursday morning by operatives of National Security.He drove with them to the National Investigations Bureau installation near 37 Military Hospital in Accra. He was subsequently transferred to the Nima Divsional Command of the Ghana Police Service,” Media General narrated.
“Captain Smart was interrogated by a team comprising the Divisional Commander, Crime Officer, Investigative Officer and other officers of the command in the presence of his lawyer and managers,” they added.
“During the interrogation, Smart was officially informed that the reason for his arrest was for comments he made on his show, Onua Maakye that the police considers to be inciting of the public against the state”.
“He was cautioned on the offence of offensive conduct after which his written statement was taken by the Crime Officer”.
