Residents of Takoradi tell President ahead of visit

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo will be visiting the capital of the Western Region, Sekondi-Takoradi on Thursday, December 8.

The president will be commissioning, inspecting and cutting sod for some projects at the Takoradi Harbour.

The first berth of the Dry Bulk Terminal was handed over for use in March this year to give way for cargo operations to partially commence at that berth in the Port of Takoradi.

The 2nd phase which will be commissioned by the president tomorrow has a total berth length of 800m with a draft of 16m, making it one of the deepest dry bulk terminals in West Africa.

Atlantic Terminal Services which commenced somewhere in August 2019 is a service on-dock facility at the Takoradi Port which entailed an investment of about $547m.

This forms part of the Government’s strategy to establish Ghana as A transhipment hub in the West African Sub-region which the president will visit and inspect.

It will also see land reclamation for the construction of five new berths that can accommodate very big boats.

Ahead of his visit, some residents sent a message to the president through Skyy News.

Madam Hagar who is a food vendor said, she is totally confused about the state of the country, as she seems not to understand what is happening in relation to the economy.

She said food prices have increased astronomically and it affecting her business. Since she has been given this opportunity, “I will ask the president what is happening?”

Mr Ben said there are no jobs and the current economic situation is very bad for him and the people in his area.

He said, “Fish I used to buy at 1 cedi is now five cedis, the worse part is that we are not working and if I was doing so, it would have not been a problem for me.”

“I want to tell the president to help save the economy because things are going bad.”
