Some Ghanaians on social media have began a campaign to register their displeasure about government directive to begin compulsory vaccination at the country’s Airport, Kotako International Airport.
Ministry of Health begins compulsory vaccination at Airport
The government of Ghana, through the Ghana Health Service on Thursday December, 9 issued a statement directing a compulsory vaccination for all persons, 18years and above arriving at the Aiport.
The directive is to commence on Sunday, December 12 and is to curtail the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant which is gaining grounds worldwide.
“All persons 18years and above arriving in Ghana will be required to provide evidence of full vaccination for a COVID-19 vaccine.
All unvaccinated Ghanaians and residents of Ghana who are currently outside the country and intend to return within 14days from the midnight of 12th December 2021 are exempted.
However, they would be vaccinated on arrival at the Airport”
“ll Ghanaians traveling out of the country are to be fully vaccinated effective midnight 12th December 2021,” part of the statement said .

The news has however, not gone down well with some Ghanaians who have taken to social media to protest.
They are of the view, they should be allowed to make the choice whether to accept the vaccine or not and not be forced on them.
The campaigners have also described the compulsory vaccination as slavery, abuse of human fight and an imposition on Ghanaian people.
GhanaPlus.com came across the twitter protest dubbed #ResistTyrannynow and some of the comment from participants.

I have seen the height if madness in our day! Years ago people gave warranty for their products. They were proud of doing good, today manufacturers indemnify themselves, did I send them? #ResistTyrannyNow

So the war of #vaccinemandate is upon us in Ghana. @RealCandaceO
Looking at the very low rate of infection and hospitalization Ghana, we should not be near this craziness. Something fishy is going on. #ResistTyrannyNow— Solomon K. (@drsolomon111) December 11, 2021
Over years, throughout school, we were told Ghana is a nation of peace. OK?! HOW DID DEMOCRACY BECOME DICTATORSHIP? SO CALLED FREEDOM WOULD BE DICTATED BY A SHOT FROM VACCINES THAT DON'T EVEN WORK.#ResistTyrannyNow#ResistTyrannyNow#ResistTyrannyNow https://t.co/lgtk5iuZEU

Did you just fight for your freedom to give it up again?
Did you just fight for freedom to enslave your own people?

In Ghana, we will just wake up one day and everything that belongs to the Ghanaians has sold. Today we have woken up and our freedom has been sold. Why must I be forced to take vaccine? #ResistTyrannyNow
