Sekondi-Takoradi MCE suspended

The Metropolitan Cheif Executive (MCE) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Mr Abdul Issah Mumin has been suspended from office with immediate effect pending an inquiry into his encounter with the Police.
In a letter from the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Local Rural Development dated February 4, 2022, the government frowns on the act of the MCE which was exhibited towards the police and his comments were out of line as Chief Executive in the Metropolis.
This comes after he was arrested on Thursday, February 3, for an alleged motor traffic offence, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer who was performing his lawful duty.
The MCE has been charged on three (3) counts of assault on a public officer, offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace and disturbing the peace in a public place.
He has also been charged for dangerous driving as well.
The MCE is to reappear before the court on 17th March 2022.
Further information which led to his arrest states that he was driving a Nissan Patrol vehicle with registration number GE 5615 – 20 and is alleged to have driven dangerously and carelessly while approaching a police checkpoint at the Kwesimintsim Cemetery on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
This was after one of the police officers tried to stop him which he verbally assaulted and threatened him.
