First Female Vice-President-elect of Ghana, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has said her victory is for women, daughters and all the youth of Ghana.

“The victory is for all of us but it’s certainly for our daughters, for our youth and for our women,” she said.

She noted the men were aware of the major roles played by women in various spheres of life across the country  adding that Ghana will not only be built by only the male gender.

“I know this is a big responsibility and I don’t intern to travel this journey by myself. You are all part of it. NDC is an inclusive party and we are demonstrating it in many ways. My job was to have open the door and it doesn’t end there.

“Actually, that is where the work begins. I will hold the door open. The method of holding the door open so others wish to travel that door is what am implying. It is not a self-aggrandizing position. It is position that empowers others”.

“This country is not only going to be built only by half a gender. They know very well, whether we are in the public space or not the role we play and we have accepted at NDC to facilitate the process,” she added.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang made the comment while addressing supporters of the National Democratic Congress and Ghanaians at the resident of the President-elect of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama after the official declaration of 2024 general elections by Electoral Commission.
