Amidst the recent fake Takoradi kidnapping incidents and the Shatta Wale shooting prank which has landed them in trouble with the law, a lawyer in the Sekondi-Takoradi has revealed that the worldwide accepted prank day, ‘April Fool’ Day’ can as well get one in trouble with the law.
Speaking on the issue of Joana Krah who was sentenced to six (6) years imprisonment by the Takoradi Circuit Court A on Tuesday, October 26, after pleading guilty for faking her kidnap which she later confessed that she was only trying to prank her adopted father.
Lawyer Eric Daning advice the public to desist from extreme pranks such as Joana Krah’s kidnap and Shatta Wale’s shooting incident which caused fear and panic in the Ghanaian citizenry.
He went further to advise that individuals should be moderate when pranking and even breaking tragic news to people.
Lawyer Daning noted that one can be sued for causing shock and fear after an extreme prank that leads to an individual getting a heart attack or going in a state of shock which the court will also go ahead to grant it depending on the amount of money the victim is suing for.
Also, the worldwide celebrated prank day, ‘April Fool’ can not be used as an excuse for an extreme prank that may lead to shock or death of an individual and that, citizens should rather be moderate with their pranks and jokes.
If it leads to the death of an individual, it will not be considered as a prank day and one can go to jail for murder.
