Bawumia Rallies Supporters in Ashanti Region, Emphasizes STEM and Faith-Driven Leadership

Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, left the Juaben and Asante Akyem North constituencies on Sunday, December 1, 2024, with a renewed sense of optimism as he continued his campaign for the December 7 polls.

Thousands of residents flooded the streets of both constituencies, where they were captivated by Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the country. He reassured them that better days lie ahead under his leadership, urging the crowd to stay hopeful as they look toward the upcoming election.

Although Dr. Bawumia had already visited other parts of the Ashanti Region during his campaign, he made it a priority to visit these remaining constituencies. He expressed confidence in securing victory in Saturday’s elections.

During his visit to the newly commissioned STEM School in Juaben, the Vice President highlighted the transformative role that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education will play in Ghana’s future. “Under my leadership, Ghana will actively engage in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Dr. Bawumia said, emphasizing that the nation’s progress will be driven by strategic investments in STEM education and digitalization.

Reflecting on the government’s achievements in education, particularly in senior high schools, Dr. Bawumia assured the people of Ghana that reforms would now focus on junior high schools, with a strong emphasis on STEM education.

In a move that underscored his broader campaign message, Dr. Bawumia also spoke about the importance of faith in leadership during his visit to the Believers Worship Centre (commonly known as Philadelphia) in Juaben. Addressing a packed congregation, the Vice President highlighted the role of divine guidance in governance. “Governance is not merely about policies and programs; it is about seeking God’s guidance to ensure the well-being of our people,” he said. “With your support, I will continue to put God at the center of Ghana’s development.”

Further emphasizing his inclusive approach to spirituality, Dr. Bawumia proposed the creation of a Pilgrimage Authority. This initiative, he explained, would facilitate religious pilgrimages for Ghanaians of all faiths. “Muslims will perform the Hajj in Saudi Arabia to pray for the prosperity of our nation, and Christians will visit Israel to connect with their faith and seek divine intervention for Ghana,” he said. “It’s about building a nation rooted in prayer and unity.”

Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on Sunday reinforced his message of faith-driven leadership and a forward-looking approach to education and national development as he seeks the support of Ghanaians in the upcoming elections.
