A member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Ms Susan Adu-Amankwah has debunked the popular assertion which state if you want to get rich quickly, go into politics.
According to her, the widely acclaimed assertion in the country was not necessarily true adding it takes years of hard works and certain loyalty to ones political party to even attain that position to make the said riches.
She noted most often than not, the public was not evident to such sacrifices hence the assertion.
“Dr said something that if you want to get rich quick go into politics. It not necessarily true. The people you see get rich overnight, they didn’t just go one day, they have been there. Accept that you have not seen the hard work that they put in to be where they are. Because even in politics you must be appropriately stationed in a particular time at the right place, at the right time to be able to be seemingly rich overnight”
The CPP politician debunked the assertion on Pan African TV’s current affairs programme , Good Morning Africa monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
She described the assertion as laughable adding not all politicians get rewarded to make the such riches but those who assumes some level of sacrifices, most especially, when their parties were in opposition.
“What am saying is that, that overnight thing that people say makes me laugh. If you have been an active politician before, an activist before, you will know that not all activist that when their party comes into power they benefits. Loyalty and a certain hard work is what get rewarded”.
Go into politics if you want to get rich quick
It has been a popular assertion in Ghana for years that if you want to get rich quickly, go into politics largely due to the seeming overnight riches earned by persons within the political circles of the country.
They go into power with practically nothing, however, couple of months down the lane, they are reported to have acquired an imaginable wealth and properties beyond the comprehension of the Ghanaian voter who voted them into office.
