Put 4% on Momo account of every Ghanaian if public sector workers need 4% - Akufo-Addo told

A Member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr Sylvester Soprano Sarpong has asked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo to put 4% on the Momo account of every Ghanaian if he feels the need to increase salaries of public sector workers by 4%.

Speaking on Good Morning Africa on Pan African TV on July 27, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said that would enable Ghanaians who were not workers of the sector also enjoy the benefits given to their  counterpart in the sector.

 “So we want to call on the president to stand strong on this matter. This 4% that they are given to the public sector people is too much they should be given 0% . If the President feels the public sector people need 4% then they should put 4% on every bodies momo account so that the Ghanaian people can also benefit directly from this”.

He maintained government spent nearly 70% of it resources on the sector leaving little for the rest of the citizens and deem it fit, the ordinary Ghanaian also benefits from the 4% if indeed the workers needs it.

Public Sector workers don’t need the 4% increment

The CPP loyalist who doubles as the party’s Director of Communications made the remarks in responds to labour agitations by public sector workers following the announcement of a 4% increment in workers salaries this year.

He maintained the government workers do not need any increment since by virtue of their job they are privilege to many opportunities like loans from facilities all across the countries.

He also noted, most of them enjoy many benefits which he described as reminisce of colonialism and quizzed what special work they do to deserve such privileges.

Government announce 4% increment for Public Sector Workers 

Government  announced 4% and 7% salary increment for public sector workers for the year 2021/2022 despite earlier 15% proposed by organized labour.

The development had spark several agitations within the sector with many describing it as woefully inadequate.
