The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described the Inspector General of Police, IGP Akufo Dampare as a celebrity IGP.
The NDC stalwart was reacting to the attempted arrest of the Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, Francis Xaiver – Sosu.
In a twitter post sighted by GhanaPlus.com on Monday, November 1, he said that is what happens when you have a celebrity IGP.
“This is what happens when you have a celebrity IGP who is only interested in media hype; a people who are easily hoodwinked by publicity stunts; and a #SerwaahBroniGov’t that majors in the minors”.

The demonstration was said to have begun peacefully at Damfa, with residents clad in red and black to protest their displeasure about the nature of their roads.
However, some protestors took to blocking of roads and burning of vehicle tyres.
That the report said prompted the police who quickly, dispatched reinforcement from the Formed Police Unit to restore calm.
The police, subsequently, attempted to arrest the MP over the development but he escaped.
Cite Police for contempt – Sosu petitioned Parliament
Mr Sosu later made an official complaint to Parliament about the development.

The content provides as follows, “Civil of criminal process coming from any court or place out of Parliament shall not be served on, or executed in relation to the Speaker, or a member or the Clerk to Parliament while he is on his way to attending at, or returning from any proceedings of Parliament,” he said.
