A Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Communication team, Mr Elikem Kotoko has taken a swipe at the Minister of Health, Mr Kweku Agyeman-Manu following reports by Frontier Healthcare Services Limited, a private entity responsible for COVID-19 test at the Kotaka International Airport that there has been a surge in cases recorded at the facility.
Speaking on HotNews on Pan African Television on Monday, April 26, the NDC member said the Health Minister is pretending to be working and was being paid for no work done.
According to him, the report by Frontier cannot be trusted as far as he was concern since the Health Minister could not tell when and what went into the appointment of the company to the country’s airport.
On the programme monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said that singular act was a dint on the credibility of the company and quizzed what the role of the Minister was if could not perform a simple task of knowing how the company became operational in Ghana.
“And to even have the Health Minister and one other all tells us in public and on national TV during their vetting that they all did not know how this company was contracted, it tells you that it appear we elected a mess to do the job of a messiah and we ve’ appointed square pegs in round hole and nobody knows what is being done”.
“What would be the basis of you trusting a company you do not even know? That even the Health Minster does not know how that company came to the table, the Health Minister!, so what exactly does the Health Minister do? So he is pretending to be working and he is being paid for absolutely no work done,” he said.
He indicated he was extremely worried as a young person in the country to know that the minister holding such a crucial office had no knowledge how Frontier Healthcare Services Limited began its operation at the country’s airport.
“And I keep worrying because as youth , I get very worried that with all due respect to his age, in that capacity he is absolutely clueless, he doesn’t know how a company like that came into existence”.
Elikem Kotoko explained it was for the fact that the Minister was clueless about how the company was contracted that Ghanaians could not trust the letter released by Frontier Health Service Limited on the surge of COVID-19 at Ghana’s airport.
“That is why the integrity of the firm is also another matter for discussion in because whatever with report that they have come out with what is the margin of error with regard to what equipment they are also using to do their test because you and I cannot even trust them and that is one truth because the process through which they came in to that position is questionable and so you and still doubt their integrity because they came through the back door, they did not come in through the front door for us all to know what they are about,” he said.
“Even the institution that is even written the letter is in doubt, it credibility have been indicted by the Minister,” he insisted.
