Ken Ofori-Atta heads Trade Ministry as caretaker Minister

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta as Caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The appointment follows the resignation of the Trade Minister, Mr Alan Kyeremanten on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
A statement from the Presidency signed by the Communications Director, Mr Eugene Arhin on January 6, said, Mr Ofori-Atta will act until a substantive minster is appointed.
“The President has asked the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta to act as a caretaker minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry until a substantive appointment is made”, the statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com reads.
It’s noted, the Trade Minister, affectionately known as Alan Cash in the Ghanaian political space tendered in his resignation on Thursday, January 5th after informing the President of same personally.
“President Akufo-Addo thanked Mr Kyeremanten for his service to his government and to the country and wished him well in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

Alan Kyeremanten
Mr Alan Kyeremanten was appointed in 2017 as the Minister of Trade and Industry by Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and has since held the position till date.
Prior to his appointment, he worked under Ghana’s former President, John Agyekum Kufour as an Ambassador of Ghana to the United States , Private Sector Development (PSD) and the Presidential Special Initiatives (PSI).
He also served as Trade Advisor at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa(ECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he coordinated the African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC) among many others.
Mr Kyeremanten is an Economist and Lawyer by profession and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economic and Law Degree, LLB all from Ghana’s premier University, University of Ghana, Legon.
