LGBTQ is alien to our culture – Ernest Owusu Bempah

The Anti-LGBT Bill which has generated a lot discussions among Ghanaians has been laid in Parliament.

The Bill, titled, “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021”, has gone through the first reading in Parliament.

The Bill, among others, seeks to strengthen and augment existing legislation on the country’s penal code which criminalizes consensual “unnatural carnal knowledge” with people over the age of 16 years 1ad7 under section 104 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) as amended by Act 646 of 2003.

The bill is expected to ensure that people who engage in homosexual activity could be fined or go to jail for between three to five years.

The law would also make it a crime for any person to identify as a lesbian, gay, transgender, transsexual, queer, pansexual or non-binary (LGBTQ ) and would be punishable by five years in prison.

Besides, advocating for LGBQ rights would also be illegal under the bill, with activists facing jail sentences of between five and ten years.

Speaking to conveyor of Fixing The Country Movement, a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Ernest Owusu Bempah, on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Friday, October 8, indicated that the LGBTQ movement is alien to the Ghanaian culture and not welcomed in the community on any terms.

“It is non African and not part of African culture, it is something that is alien, a barbaric act and is not supposed to be encouraged”

Also, he revealed since we have conscience and more advanced than an animals, there has not been any incident that we have witnessed a male animal crossing his other male counterpart.

He went further to debunk the human rights aspect of the argument and indicated it is not anybody’s right to have same sex relationship with his fellow human being.

However, they will work collectively with same minded groups to fight the LGBTQ agenda and make sure the anti LGBTQ law materialise in the country.
