GES sacks Chiana students for insulting President Akufo-Addo

Vida Essel-LampteyThe Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed eight students of the Chiana Senior High School located in the Upper East Region of Ghana for insulting the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
JoyNews report said prior to their dismissal, the teenage girls had been on suspension.
“The GES says its investigation into the incident confirmed that the students used unsavoury language against the President,” the report added.
The students all form two female students in a viral video sighted by GhanaPlus.com on social media rained unpleasant insults on the President last year over reason yet to establish by us at the time of this publication.
The girls took turns to verbally abuse the President with one of them citing the infamous “Sika Mpe Dede” comment made by the President in October last year in the midst of the depreciating Ghana cedi.

GES apologies to Akufo-Addo, Ghanaians over Chiana students viral video
A press release by dated November 14, 2022 and signed by the Head Public Relation Unit of GES, Cassadra Twum Ampofo condemned the development describing it as an “unfortunate act which is against every educational and moral principles in society” and subsequently ordered an investigations into the development.
“Our attention have been drawn to a viral video circulating on social media involving some students misconducting themselves and using vulgar language and unprintable words on the President of our land”.
“Management of the Ghana Education Service condemns this unfortunate act which is against which is against every educational and moral principles in society, ” portion of the statement reads.
The GES in the statement apologize to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Ghanaian public on behalf of the students.
